A Service Company
Prime Horizontal is first and foremost a service company. From its beginnings as a consultancy service in England in 1998, to its expansion to Europe and Americas, Prime has carried the philosophy of consulting to its service business. This means that each and every project is a new business venture requiring equipment and methods customized to precisely fit the customer's requirements.
Because of Prime's experience, some competitors use us to assist in performance of their own projects. Prime's customers come from every field involved with the laying of underground conduit: civil engineering companies, pipeline companies, infrastructure development companies, petrochemical companies, desalinization plants, Railroad and Utility companies, both public and private.
Usually Prime is the subcontractor to a drilling company. Prime's typical role is to provide the magnetic guidance equipment as well as specialized drill bits and reamers and to control the horizontal drilling under obstructions such as rivers, harbors, canals, buildings, factories, cities.
History
Prime Horizontal’s technical success is based on the development in 1998-1999 and successive improvements of the ParaTrack system of horizontal guidance. Originally developed by Vector Magnetics as an underground parallel-drilling location system, ParaTrack was co-developed and continues to be improved by Prime Horizontal and Vector Magnetics for specific application to the HDD market.
Now Prime Horizontal's capabilities include the use of both wire-based and non-wire based magnetic sources, including the Rotating Magnet (RM) Sub and the AC Beacon, making possible many new guidance applications.
Recently, the Pressure while Drilling (PWD) module to measure the pilot-hole annulus and internal pipe pressure at the steering tool has been added to the growing list of Prime's capabilities.
